Privacy policy

Last updated 3 October 2026

The short version: Unlatch collects nothing. It makes no network requests, has no analytics, and needs no account. The only thing it saves is the list of sites you’ve unlocked, and that stays in your own browser.

This policy covers the Unlatch browser extension (“Unlatch: Copy, Paste & Right-Click Unlocker”, “the extension”) and this website, unlatch.itskk.in. Both are made by Kaushal Kumar and are free to use.

What the extension stores

Unlatch saves two settings using Chrome’s local extension storage (chrome.storage.local) on your device:

This information is never sent to us or anyone else. It isn’t synced through your Google account. You can remove any site from the extension’s menu at any time, and uninstalling Unlatch deletes all of it.

What the extension does not do

Why it asks for the permissions it does

PermissionWhat it’s used for
storageSaving your list of unlocked sites and the “Unlock every site” setting locally, as described above.
scriptingRunning Unlatch’s small script and stylesheet on the sites you unlock, so the browser’s normal copy, paste, selection and right-click work there again.
webNavigationNoticing when a page you’ve unlocked (or a frame inside it) starts loading, so the fix applies straight away, including to embedded frames.
Access to all websitesYou can choose to unlock any site, so Chrome needs this up front. Unlatch only acts on the sites you switch on, or on every site if you turn on “Unlock every site”.

Chrome may describe the last permission as being able to “read and change all your data on all websites”. That is the standard wording for this permission. Unlatch uses it only to stop sites from blocking copy, paste, selection and right-click, and never reads or sends page content.

Chrome Web Store user data policy

The use of information by Unlatch complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Because Unlatch collects no user data, there is no data to use, transfer, or disclose for any other purpose.

This website

This site is a set of static pages. It has no sign-up, no cookies, no analytics and no third-party scripts or embeds. Fonts and images are served from this site itself, not from third-party services.

Like any website, the hosting provider that serves these pages (Cloudflare or Vercel) may briefly process standard technical information, such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested, to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. We don’t use this information to identify or track you. Those providers handle it under their own privacy policies.

Email

If you email unlatch@itskk.in, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to write. We use it only to reply to you, never add you to a mailing list, and don’t share it. You can ask us to delete your messages at any time.

Children

Unlatch doesn’t collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with an updated date at the top. If a future version of Unlatch ever needed to handle data differently, this policy would be updated before that version was released.
