When reporting a site that’s still blocked, include its address, what you tried to do (select, copy, paste or right-click), and your browser and version (from chrome://version).

Quick fixes

A site still blocks copying after I unlocked it

Click Reload page in the Unlatch menu, or reload the tab yourself. Unlatch works immediately, but some sites set up their blocking before it can step in, and a reload lets Unlatch get there first.

The switch is greyed out

Chrome doesn’t allow any extension to run on its own pages (chrome:// addresses, the New Tab page) or on the Chrome Web Store. If “Unlock every site” is on, the per-site switch is also greyed out because that site is already covered.

I can select the text, but it won’t copy

The text may be drawn on a <canvas>, shown as an image, or covered by an invisible layer. In those cases it isn’t real text on the page, so no extension can copy it as text.

A web app’s right-click menu or paste stopped working

Apps such as Google Docs, Figma and Notion have their own menus and paste handling, which unlocking replaces with the browser’s. Open Unlatch on that site and switch it off, then reload. If “Unlock every site” is on, consider turning it off and unlocking only the sites that need it.

Changing the keyboard shortcut

Alt+Shift+U turns the current site on or off. To change it, go to chrome://extensions/shortcuts and find Unlatch.

Removing a site

Open the Unlatch menu, expand Unlocked sites and click Remove next to the site, then reload any open tabs for it.

Uninstalling

Right-click the Unlatch icon in the toolbar and choose Remove from Chrome, or remove it from chrome://extensions. This also deletes your saved list of sites.

Unlatch is completely free. There’s nothing to buy, no premium version and no account. If anyone asks you to pay for it, it isn’t from us.
